Kidderminster BID is an independent not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee. It is governed by a voluntary board of directors who represent a cross-sector of the town’s business community. Our key objectives are:
Safety and Security
Crime reduction initiatives and employing a full time dedicated Town Ranger working to achieve a welcoming, clean and safe place for businesses and visitors to the town. Partnership working to promote a safe and enjoyable experience in the town and exploring options to ensure the town looks the best it can at all times.
Marketing, Promotion and Events
Boosting trade and activity, building an identity, developing a website and social media presence and providing e-bulletins. Marketing to investors, keeping spend local and improving current events and markets.
Access and Car Parking
Working with parking providers to offer incentives and deals for events at key times of the trading year. Supporting employees who commute to the town. Working towards consistent and useful signage to make access both to and around the town centre easier. Exploring opportunities to work with transport providers for specific events and peak season periods offering concessions to town centre customers.
Backing Business
Helping levy payers to save time and money by negotiating with providers to drive down costs of contracts e.g. for insurance, utilities and recycling. Working in conjunction with partner agencies to support both established and new start-ups to access grants, loans, mentoring and advice.

Listening and responding to our levy payers.
A survey was carried out in summer 2021 and as a result of that, two loss prevention officers have been contracted to provide a dedicated security response to BID businesses. The BID also runs KBID town security messaging group with over 80 levy payers utilising the service.
Establishment of a new Kidderminster Pubwatch and the use of DISC secure app.
Catastrophic Bleed Training for Pubwatch members and key town personnel.
We listened to businesses, monitored and reviewed our security and town rangers within the town, working alongside our Police Team increasing coverage and presence to combat ASB and prolific offenders.
Proven results of reduced crime within levy area on days security are active.
Increased days of security in operation and offering more support particularly, to independent business, who can’t afford the costs of additional security.
The BID team have set up a Town Centre business and outreach scheme providing up to date information on security and support.
The BID team have set up and championed ‘Cleaner Safer, Kidderminster’ which is a joint partnership with West Mercia/WFDC and other local partners to address some of the issues within the town.
Through the BID’s investment in DISC, we have identified over 70 prolific offenders and supported West Mercia Police in taking them off the streets.
The BID security and ranger team have helped recover over £10,000+ of stolen goods and returned back to business owners.
Working alongside BID businesses we have identified and reported over 230 theft and ASB offenses which would have been unreported to our local police team.
Marketing, Promotion and Events
Development of four social media platforms promoting town centre businesses.
Monthly advertorial content in the Shuttle newspaper, our website and social media, including ‘The Faces of Kidderminster’ promoting local businesses.
The promotion of covid-safe initiatives to increase footfall safely including:
- April: Easter Egg hunt and art competition to increase footfall
- August: Kiddy Proud event ‘Music, Stalls & Dance’ in the town centre
- October: Pumpkin trail and special offer

- Santa Scavenger Hunt around the town centre.
- A new Christmas tree in the town centre in partnership with Kidderminster Town Council
