An Early Christmas Present for Kidderminster Shoppers and Businesses
Kidderminster Business Improvement District is giving an early Christmas present to shoppers by offering free parking to kick start the festivities this season.
Kidderminster BID is funding free parking on Saturday 3rd December and Sunday 4th December in Wyre Forest District Council owned car parks in Kidderminster. From 8am to 9pm on both days, parking will be free in the following car parks:
- Bull Ring (short stay)
- Market Street (short stay)
- Aldi store (long stay)
- Batemans Yard (long stay)
- Bromsgrove Street (long stay)
- Castle Road (long stay)
- Comberton Place (long stay)
- Pike Mills (long stay)
This follows an announcement from Wyre Forest District Council that shoppers can take advantage of free parking at all Wyre Forest District Council owned car parks across the district over two weekends in December. On the weekends of Saturday 10 December-Sunday 11 December and Saturday 17 December-Sunday 18 December motorists will be able to park for free. Normal charging will resume at 8am on Monday 12 December and 8am on Monday 19 December.
Signs will be put up at the entrances to all council car parks and information will also be displayed at all ticket machines. Maximum length parking time restrictions will apply. Weavers Wharf is not a council owned car park, therefore, the free parking offer does not apply.
Kidderminster BID Manager James Barker said: ‘We are proud to be able to springboard free parking during the busiest shopping weekend of the year in addition to the councils offering. It’s a great way to kick start the Christmas festivities.
‘Hopefully we can take the burden away from the pockets of all potential customers. It will give our levy payers the help they deserve and drive growth in our town.
‘We are hoping that this will encourage visitors to come to Kidderminster and will also reward our loyal local community.’
Kidderminster BID has also rented car parking spaces in Bromsgrove Street from Kidderminster & District Youth Trust to help retailers during the festive season. Up to 30 spaces at any one time will be available free for the staff of local retailers who are levy payers. This will apply during December and throughout January.

‘We wanted to give our levy payers a way of rewarding their staff during the festive season,’ said James. ‘It is also a great opportunity to support KDYT and the inspirational work they do within our community.’
Kidderminster & District Youth Trust have been supporting and empowering young people since 1966. They provide a range of services for young people including youth clubs, mentoring and work in the community.
KDYT Operations Manager Mike Olive-Brooke said: ‘Working in close partnership with the BID enables us to support local business and create opportunities to support young people and the community at the same time. It’s a really positive outcome at a great time of year.’
