Business Booster: Save our high streets, towns and city centres!

Here at Kidderminster BID we’re working alongside 100’s of other business improvement districts to ask for support to ensure the survival of retail, hospitality and leisure businesses across the UK. Since the rise in omicron cases, the impact has led to companies needing crucial financial assistance to survive the ongoing disruptions.

Among the #BusinessBooster campaign, we are calling for action from the Government to provide additional support in

What we re asking for:

100% business rate relief for the first three months of 2022 up to 31st March 2022. [no cap]

The VAT reduction should be extended through to the 31st March 2023 at 12.5% to allow the hospitality, retail and leisure sector to respond and support the re-emergence of the UK economy.

The Government to introduce grants up to £15,000 by rateable value to businesses within the hospitality, retail and leisure sector to enable them to survive in light of a festive trading period in tatters, a bleak outlook for the new year and the impending rent quarter date of 25th December 2021.

These are significant requirements that are needed to be put in place in order to give local businesses far and wide, the fighting opportunity to survive another gruelling period of uncertainty.

If we don’t act now our high streets, towns and city centres could be no more and the impact could be catastrophic so now we need everyone to come together and make sure this booster is implemented for the future recovery of our economy.

Is it just us, or does Kidderminster Market feel totally refreshed? 👀 A big warm welcome to Bescot Promotions , the brand-new team behind the market, and what a difference already! They’ve given the whole place a complete revamp, brought in a brilliant mix of local traders, and the new stalls are raring to go. And what a great turnout already and its not even 12pm, and if that’s anything to go by, Saturday is going to be even better! Come take a wander, meet the lovely traders, grab something tasty, and show this new-look market some love. You’ll definitely notice the difference. Go and show some support to their page 💙 #Kidderminster #loveit #market #sweets #Worcestershire #town #local #family #fun #food #love #summer #support #KidderminsterBID

We’re not just about big events at Kidderminster BID, we care about giving back and creating spaces to truly connect. That’s why we’ve teamed up with the brilliant H.E.L.P team to run Connect & Brew every Wednesday at The Tulip Tree Centre, 10am–1pm. We’ve funded 500 free brews, so come grab a cuppa, have a snack, and enjoy a good chat. Whether you’re new to town or a familiar face, you’re welcome. As our Community Engagement Officer Lindsey Tasker puts it, “It’s an environment to connect and chat, open to everyone.” #Kidderminster #Worcestershire #family #fun #team #love #local #KidderminsterBID #community #support #summer

Another week, another litter update! 💙 Ricky’s been on the move again, over 50,000 steps this week and more than 11 bags of rubbish cleared from the town centre! This week’s mystery finds? Another barrier, a shopping basket and trolley, a chair and even a cone!. What’s next a sofa? 😅 We hope you’re seeing the difference his hard work is making, and as always, thanks to everyone who gives him a wave or stops for a chat while he’s out and about! 👋 Ricky Carter #Kidderminster #Worcestershire #love #nature #litter #community #local #KidderminsterBID #summer #canal #mystery #litterpicking
