Business Booster: Save our high streets, towns and city centres!

Here at Kidderminster BID we’re working alongside 100’s of other business improvement districts to ask for support to ensure the survival of retail, hospitality and leisure businesses across the UK. Since the rise in omicron cases, the impact has led to companies needing crucial financial assistance to survive the ongoing disruptions.

Among the #BusinessBooster campaign, we are calling for action from the Government to provide additional support in

What we re asking for:

100% business rate relief for the first three months of 2022 up to 31st March 2022. [no cap]

The VAT reduction should be extended through to the 31st March 2023 at 12.5% to allow the hospitality, retail and leisure sector to respond and support the re-emergence of the UK economy.

The Government to introduce grants up to £15,000 by rateable value to businesses within the hospitality, retail and leisure sector to enable them to survive in light of a festive trading period in tatters, a bleak outlook for the new year and the impending rent quarter date of 25th December 2021.

These are significant requirements that are needed to be put in place in order to give local businesses far and wide, the fighting opportunity to survive another gruelling period of uncertainty.

If we don’t act now our high streets, towns and city centres could be no more and the impact could be catastrophic so now we need everyone to come together and make sure this booster is implemented for the future recovery of our economy.

Swesh Studio has officially opened on Oxford Street, and it looks amazing both inside and out 🤩 Their team have completely transformed the old 45 Live into a really high-quality, welcoming space focused on community fitness, with a great range of classes on offer. Swesh Studio was formerly on New Road. It’s brilliant to see a local independent grow and invest back into the town centre like this, especially with such a strong community focus behind it 💙 They’ll also be holding their full launch party on Saturday 24th May, so keep an eye out for that. Wishing them all the best definitely worth checking out and having a look for yourself 🙌 #Kidderminster #Worcestershire #support #community #local #fitness #love #business #new

Talbot Park on Worcester Street is now officially open to the public, and honestly, it looks great. 🌿 After months of waiting, it’s good to finally see people using the space, and it brings some much-needed greenery into the town centre. The weather turned up for it too, which made for a really nice opening with a great turnout. If you’re in town, it’s definitely worth popping over and having a look for yourself. 💙 #Kidderminster #Worcestershire #local #town #love #support #community #park #spring

It’s been a warmer week, and our team have been busy keeping things moving, cleaning business frontages, clearing litter and helping make the town feel safer, cleaner and more welcoming. ☀️ This week we’ve been working across Green Street and Dixon Street, tackling overgrown weeds and plants, while also keeping on top of the green spaces around the town centre. We really appreciate all the kind words and support, both on here and in person, it doesn’t go unnoticed 💙 #Kidderminster #Worcestershire #local #town #support #community #love #litter #business #clean
