Summer Fun at Kiddy Proud 2: See the 1989 Batmobile!
The sun is set to shine on Kidderminster this summer with a fantastic event taking centre stage.
There will be plenty of fun for all the family at Kiddy Proud 2 which is taking place in Kidderminster town centre on Saturday July 23rd.
It runs from 12 noon until 4pm in Weavers Wharf, Vicar Street, High Street and the Bull Ring.
The event follows hot on the heels of last year’s successful Kiddy Proud, with this year set to be bigger and better than ever.
Kiddy Proud 2 will take to the streets of Kidderminster town centre the weekend before the start of the Commonwealth Games so there will be some fun sporting activities to get you in the spirit. They include a mini tabletop football championship happening outside JD Sports in Weavers Wharf. There will also be a chance to have a go at ‘perfect putting’ and to try your hand at basketball.
One of the most iconic cars from the silver screen will be making an appearance at Kiddy Proud 2. The Michael Keaton 1989 Batmobile will be parked up, and you will have the chance to take an awe-inspiring photo with the Batmobile and Batman who will be roaming the town centre with a stilt walker! The Batmobile isn’t a replica. It’s the original Batmobile from the movie!
This year young people from J’s Dance Factory will be back again from 1pm to 2pm outside the Swan Centre. After that ‘IGNITE’ – Kidderminster College’s Performing Arts School will be taking centre stage. To add to the fun, Wyre Forest Cheerleading will be performing from 3:40 – 4:00pm.
Kiddy Proud 2 will also include free face painting for children and the wonderful alpacas will be back with the Phoenix Children’s Foundation.
The market will be taking place as usual, full of fantastic traders who are passionate about what they do, and there will be some additional food and drink stalls.
You will also be able to meet representatives from The British Army, Wyre Forest Police Safer Neighbourhood Team and the Hereford and Worcestershire Fire and Rescue Service who will be in town sharing information.
Kidderminster BID Manager Alex Powell said: ‘Kiddy Proud 2 is going to be a fantastic celebration of our people and our town. We wanted to celebrate the start of the Commonwealth Games and show off our town and some of our local talent. There’s great community spirit in Kidderminster, and at Kiddy Proud 2 there will be plenty for all to enjoy.’
