Faces of Kidderminster – Wendy Galaszewski

Registrar Wendy Galaszewski has helped generations of people in Kidderminster. She has married hundreds of people, and registered thousands of births and deaths.

Wendy is based in Kidderminster Town Hall and is responsible for an area which includes Stourport, Bewdley and Tenbury Wells. It’s almost 20 years since she saw a job advertised at Kidderminster Registration Office. Before that she ran two general stores in Bewdley.

She started as a Deputy Registrar and is now a Deputy Superintendent Registrar and a Registrar.

‘It’s a very responsible job,’ she says. ‘Everything has to be legally correct.

‘I see a lot of familiar faces, and it’s just lovely seeing all sorts of different people.

‘If they’re coming in to plan their wedding or if they have a new baby, they’re so excited. It’s a lovely job, it’s very satisfying and rewarding. Every day is different which is how I like it.’

Wendy went to Kidderminster High School and then to Kidderminster College where she studied secretarial and business studies.

‘I like Kidderminster,’ she says. ‘I like the familiarity of it. I feel comfortable working and shopping here.

‘There’s a good community spirit. It’s a friendly place. People stop and chat to you. I know so many people.’

If she goes to the supermarket people smile at her and say: ‘you registered our baby.’ ‘It’s nice that they remember you.’ She says. Wendy, a 64 year-old mother of two, and a grandmother, enjoys swimming, cycling and going to the theatre in her spare time.

He’s now out and about in his blue BID top, working alongside Sam and Dan to support local businesses and offer a helping hand for the community. If you spot him around town, don’t forget to say hello! 💙 #Kidderminster #Worcestershire #love #local #support #town #summer #safety #business #growth #events #community

It’s been just over 2 months since Ricky joined the BID team, and what a difference he’s made! 💙 In that time, he’s cleared over 3 tonnes of litter from our streets and come across some interesting finds... trolleys, baskets, cones, even barriers! 🫣 Take a look below at some of Ricky’s biggest clean-up jobs, the community support has been amazing, and it's clear he's making a real impact in our town centre. 💙 We’re so excited to be expanding his role soon... stay tuned for updates! Have you seen Ricky around? Noticed the difference? Let us know! 👋 Ricky Carter #Kidderminster #Worcestershire #litter #nature #summer #family #local #town #support #love #litterpicking #green #community

13 July

It’s Saturday, the sun’s out (maybe a bit too out 😅), and we just had to come down to the new look Kidderminster Market. Sweating slightly, but worth it, there has been a great buzz in town, loads of brilliant local stalls, and plenty of people out supporting. From handmade gifts to proper street food, the place is packed with good stuff. If you haven’t been yet… what are you doing? Go take a wander (maybe bring suncream). ☀️ Brought to you by the one and only Bescot Promotions 💙 #Kidderminster #Worcestershire #family #fun #market #festival #love #summer #weekend #food #sweats #support #local #town
