Kidderminster BID Community Round Up from January to March

The Kidderminster BID Community Team have been as busy as ever during January, February and March. Once again, together with our fantastic local partners, we’ve continued to deliver activities that provide opportunities for connecting with others and improving community spirit.

Since the start of January, we’ve proudly supported 77 free community activities – and it’s been amazing to see them visited a total of 795 times by all sorts of local people.

Here’s just a snapshot of what we’ve been up to:

☕️Connect & Brew – 61 friendly drop-in sessions across five venues, that between them had a total of 560 visits. These sessions gave people the chance to sit down, share a cuppa, and enjoy good conversation.

🏓Fitness & Activity Sessions – 16 sessions at two venues, bringing in a total of 199 visits. Whether it was ‘Fun Fitness’ with Lisa or trying something new at the ‘Balls, Rackets, Nets and More’ group, more people got moving while having fun.

📢We’ve enjoyed chatting at the Rose Theatre, Kidderminster Library, the Tulip Tree Centre, Corner Café and the Garage Café and we’ve got physical at Youth House and Wyre Forest Leisure Centre, all while continuing to create welcoming spaces in familiar community places.

🎉But the numbers only tell part of the story. The real success has been the connections made, the friendships formed, and the sense of belonging that has continued to grow within our town. Local people, coming together in local places, building stronger community ties – that’s what it’s all about.

💬 Headline News 💬

Our ‘Connect & Brew’ session held as part of the H.E.L.P Supporting People in Need Community Café which takes place at the Tulip Tree Centre every Wednesday started in January 2025 with just 8 people popping in for a chat and a cuppa.

Sixty sessions later and 57 different people have joined the table at least once and we’ve already had an astonishing total of over 700 visits!!!

There's just under a week to go until the Kidderminster Canal & Food Festival returns 👀 On 8th & 9th August, we'll be back at Weavers Wharf, in partnership with the amazing FAB Food Fest, for a weekend of international street food, live entertainment, market stalls, funfair rides and, of course, the fantastic Michael Jackson Tribute 🎶 We genuinely love bringing this event to the town, and after last year's turnout, we can't wait to welcome everyone back for another great weekend. Fingers crossed the weather is on our side... just not too hot ☀️ The event is completely free and you don't need a ticket to attend, but if you'd like to see the full entertainment line-up and keep up with the latest event information, click the link below. 👇 https://shorturl.at/HWLTT #Kidderminster #Worcestershire #events #summer #local #community #love #support #foodie

Here it is... after weeks of hard work in the heat, we've completely transformed the overgrown flower bed at the top of Church Street 😍 We're really proud of how it's turned out, and the difference is there for everyone to see. A huge thank you to everyone who's stopped for a chat, shared kind words or shown their support over the past few weeks. It genuinely means a lot to us and keeps us motivated to carry on improving our town centre. This transformation wouldn't have been possible without the support and collaboration of Wyre Forest District Council and Kidderminster Town Council, and we'd like to thank them for helping bring this project to life. We're hoping this is just the start, and we'd love to continue delivering more improvements like this across the town over the coming months. 💙 #Kidderminster #Worcestershire #summer #local #flowers #love #support #community
